卒論生来たる (Undergraduates came)

10月から、地球惑星環境学科４年生の特別研究（卒論）が本格スタートしました。今年は、3人（！）が横山先生を指導教員としています。10/3が卒論の計画発表会で、前日には加速器研究ゼミで発表練習を行いました（写真）。

Undergraduate students in the Department of Earth and Planetary Environmental Science have started their graduate thesis from October. This year, three students (!) are supervised by Dr. Yokoyama. Because they had presentations about their study plans on 3rd October, presentation practice were held in our seminor on 2nd October (photo).

シンポジウム：氷床変動とグローバルな気候変動

10月3日に東大・本郷・工学部2号館でシンポジウム（タイトル）を行いました。横山先生のANU（オーストラリア国立大学）時の指導教官のランベック氏の講演がありました。貴重な講演を聴ける絶好の機会ということで、当日は多くの方が来場されました。個人的には、シンポジウム・懇親会の運営が上手くいき、非常によかったです。研究室の学生のみなさん、宮入さん（OB、現・東大・工）が、よく協力してくれたお陰だと思います。ありがとうございました。写真は、ランベック氏のご講演の様子と、懇親会の模様です。

静岡大で集中講義 (Special lecture at Shizuoka Univ.)

横山先生が、静岡大で2日間（9/24-25）にわたり、集中講義を行ってきました。主に3、4年生を中心に、大学院生や、話を聞きつけた飛び入りの高校の化学の先生など、50人ほどの聴講生が参加。「早朝から夕方5時までの講義にも関わらず、遅刻もせずに熱心に話を聞いていました」（横山先生）とのことです。写真は今回の手配などをしていただいた北村先生と生方先生、そして学生の大森さん。
Dr. Yokoyama cunducted special lectures at Shizuoka University during 24th-25th September. About 50 audience attended the lecture, including undergraduates, graduate students, a highschool teacher in chemistry etc. "They listened the lecture hard", Dr. Yokoyama said, "although the lecture are from early morning to 17:00".
